Took some shots of the Miata at work after hours. Lip and wheels all painted, tire shine on the tires and some on my faded vinyl top as well, which did a treat for making it look all shiny and new. Yet again, Kinja makes everything a whole EV step darker. Sigh. Doesn’t help I lean towards darker photos anyways.

Looks great! Hard top would be sick! Are the tails tinted or are they dark like that stock?

I need to ask you a question: Would you recommend a sixth generation Civic to a pretty much broke gearhead who wants to learn stick?

Hard top is definitely on my list but they are so damn hard to come by and so expensive when you finally find one :/
I really have no idea what’s up with the tails. They’re perfectly bright when lit up and don’t *appear* to be tinted, but it could just be very well-done Nightshades.

Yes. Very much so. The 5th and 6th gen civics have the unique trait of having stupidly cheap aftermarket parts available for them. They are also incredibly easy to work on, OEM parts are cheap (bumper cover? $40 brand new from Rockauto. Including shipping), and the D-series engines will run for ages, even if they do have a habit of burning oil after 200k miles.
I do recommend a short shifter and polyurethane shift bushings, though. The rubber hardware on a 15+ year old car is going to be mushy and vague and a generally terrible experience, though once stiffened up the manual transmissions in EK civics are quite excellent, and the hydraulic clutch is pretty forgiving as long as your motor mounts aren’t toast (again, like $20 on rockauto for brand new OE-style replacements).

I’ve heard they’re pricey.
What's the murdersofa status?

Looks nice and clean. I just drove my ‘95 today for the first time in a month.

Short shifter, shifter bushings, motor mounts. Got it. Thanks, man! If you’re ever up in Kelowna BC, and you want to thrash and autocross another Civic, she’s all yours.

My dad is driving it since his B5.5 Passat TDI wagon is being an absolutely staggering money pit.

That’s the 1.8l, right? What color?

Yep, Classic Red. It’s had a surging idle since October. I’m thinking either the ISCV is dead or just really dirty. It’ll have to wait until the semester’s over in a few weeks for me to tear it down. But it was nice to drive it, just to keep the battery going.

depends solely on the fact of is it a hatch or not?

imho i think cars look better in underexposed shots.
Nice miata too

Mmm. The red with the white wheels looks rather excellent. Any mods or is it all stock?

I agree. I very much lean towards the dark and moody aesthetic when taking pictures. My girlfriend and her sister aim for bright and happy with a matte applied in Photoshop and there isn’t a single black pixel in the frame because all the shadows have been brought up in post... Ugh. Low contrast overly happy bleeeeeech.

Practically stock with the exception of braided steel brake lines, for safety. Yeah, the wheels are plastidipped. It had steelies when I bought it, which I had painted white, but the paint didn’t hold up well at all, probably because it’s nearly impossible to get something so old and rusty to be clean. So I went with dip this time on the daisies and it’s held up better. I filled the Mazda text in afterward with black Sharpie, and then went over all of it with a few coats of clear gloss.
